Grace was my first in many ways. Besides being the first pony I ever owned, as far as I can remember she was also the first Welsh pony I ever met. I first got to know her in the 1990s when I used to ride her. I also took care of her first foal, Blacksteps Bodyguard a.k.a. Otto.
Since then Grace worked as a competitive show jumping pony for about 15 years. One of her best achievements was a bronze medal from the finnish hall championships. She has also been a member of Team Finland and competed on international level.
Grace became a broodmare in her 20s. Her previous owner got two nice part bred foals out of her, colt Zorro SA (2009) and
filly Esperanza SA (2010).
I became Grace's owner in the summer of 2010 after being her rider for about 7 months. I took her to the welsh section B stallion Wildzang's Sundancer by whom she foaled a nice filly Graylan Gwendolyn a.k.a. Ruusa in 2011.
I don't have the official height certificate of Grace but I believe she was close to the maximum height of a section B Welsh pony.
Unfortunately as Grace got older she started having health issues. Sometimes it would be her legs and during her last spring she started to have back pains. I got her x-rayed and found out that her back was never going to be healthy again. In the end, Grace, regardless of being constantly medicated, got in so much back pain that I had to have her euthanized on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Grace was a hard working pony who impressed and charmed a countless amount of people. To me, Grace was definitely one of the most important ponies of my life. She had a huge personality that will be missed.
